The 2010 Yarra Glen Artshow will be held at Alowyn Gardens, located 3.5km north of Yarra Glen on the Melba Highway. Alowyn Gardens is an inspirational environment and we have been delighted by the welcoming response of John and Prue Van de Linde. The exhibition will be in a large marquee in the 'Maple Courtyard', which is adjacent to the Main Gardens.

Entry to the 'Maple Courtyard' is free.

GARDENER OF THE YEAR 2008

Alowyn Gardens, is right in the middle of the picturesque Yarra Valley just outside Yarra Glen. The garden, is designed along strong symmetrical lines that become blurred by the softness of the spaces and the grace of the trees, within and area of approximately 4 acres. There are 5 clearly defined area within the gardens; a perennial border designed for spring and Autumn, a silver birch forest consisting of 500 trees, and edible garden of generous proportions with avenues of fruit trees, a berry garden, beds of organic vegetables, flowers and herbs. Not far away is a formal parterre garden built along 17th century principles, that leads you through a series of small individual courtyards and garden spaces. Through all of this runs a wisteria and rose covered arbour 100m long with a sunken rose garden and a classical fountain as a centre piece.

To help preserve its beauty, Alowyn Gardens has a strict no dogs and no smoking policy with the gardens and grounds.
